EU's Rural Development Policy and Support for Regional Development Emphasized on Rural Tour! 
 
The rural events encouraged local residents to explore the EU’s Rural Development Policy and EU support for regional development, by highlighting the work of beneficiaries and successes of previous EU funded projects. It included success story presentations, short films and other interactive activities on the EU’s Rural Development Policy and programmes for the Turkish Cypriot community. 
“Harmonising Agricultural Competitiveness and Rural Development” Panel was held at Nicosia Merit Hotel on the last day of the Rural Tour. 
 
The EU Infopoint highlighted the EU policy on rural development and the EU support to rural communities during the month of July. The following areas were visited as part of the tour: Komi Kebir/Büyükkonuk, Kiados/Serdarlı, Morphou/Güzelyurt and  Lefka/Lefke followed by the panel discussion in Nicosia which featured EU expert and focused on harmonising agricultural competitiveness and rural development.

Komi Kebir / Büyükkonuk
The EU Infopoint started the Rural Development Tours at Komi Kebir / Büyükkonuk with the participation of more than 40 people and speakers who shared their success stories of EU funded projects.
Morphou / Güzelyurt
The EU Infopoint Team visited Güzelyurt / Morphou on the third day of the tour. The presentations were followed by a fruitful question and answer session mainly on the EU's Rural Development Sector Programme.
Kiados / Serdarlı
Kiados / Serdarlı was the second stop of the EU Infopoint and the local people benefited from the information on how EU Rural Development Policy is applied in the northern part of Cyprus.
Lefka / Lefke
The tour ended in Lefka / Lefke with a very productive discussion with the participation of the region's major producers.
We were on the road for the Rural Development Tours with our specially designed EU Infopoint car. We may soon visit your region too. Keep a look out for us!
